Manchester-America in Bloom
North Manchester America In BloomThe North Manchester America in Bloom committee was formed in 2007 by a group of volunteers dedicated to promoting the beautification of North Manchester by planting pride in our community.
America in Bloom provides educational programs, resources, and the challenge of a friendly competition between participating communities across the country. North Manchester Committee Members: Leesa Metzger, Chair (Metzger Landscaping & Design, LLC)
(Above) Manchester HS Agriculture students partnered with AIB to landscape the waterfall in Warvel Park. AIB purchased the materials while the Manchester HS Landscape Management students and Metzger Landscaping donated their time and talents to install the plantings. Funding for projects are sponsored by community donations, AIB committee fundraisers, generous grants from the Community Foundation of Wabash County and an annual budget allowance from the Town of North Manchester of $1,000. North Manchester America in Bloom is a sub-committee of North Manchester Main Street, Inc. For questions or additional information please email: lmetzger@omnicityusa.com or visit www.americainbloom.org ~North Manchester WON the National America in Bloom Competition in 2008 (population category 5,001-10,000)~ Manchester AIB partners with the Manchester FFA, Manchester Tourism committee, Main Street Inc, and the Manchester Garden Club on projects; such as the seasonal plantings of the downtown pots. Manchester AIB welcomes opportunities to partner with other groups to plant pride in North Manchester. Contact us today if your group has a project that you would like to work together on to help make North Manchester a more beautiful place in which to live and work! 2010 Projects: Purchase benches for the downtown Historic District; Host the "Dessert in the Garden" fundraiser in September; Continue to plant the Town Pots seasonally with a spring fall and winter planting; AIB will continue to maintain the AIB landscaping projects at the town sign, the Halderman Cemetary Memorial, and the Waterfall and Gazebo in the park with the help of the Manchester High School Landscape Management Class. The AIB committee will host the national AIB judges during their official 2010 evaluation in mid-July. 2009 Projects: Purchased 35 banners and brackets for the downtown Historic District, landscaped the Halderman Cemetery Memorial, helped to facilitate a community-wide spring clean-up day, continued to plant the town pots with three seasonal displays. 2008 Projects: Landscaped the memorial waterfall at Warvel Park, landscaped the gazebo in Warvel Park and planted 50 tulips at the town sign, continued to plant the town pots with three seasonal displays, installed a pocket garden at the intersection of Wayne Street and Main Street, originated the Community Bridge Website project, sponsored the Manchester Garden Contest, and hosted the national AIB judges during their official evaluation. 2007 Projects: Purchased 20 decorative flower pots for downtown floral displays, landscaped the town sign and planted 200 tulips in the town garden to brighten main street during the Tulip Festival, sponsored the Manchester Garden Contest, and hosted the national AIB judges during their official evaluation. |
